ETHIOPIA GUJI HANBELA DABAYE

This washed processed coffee from Hambela Dabaye packs impressive sweetness, with delicate floral notes characteristic from the Guji region. Brewed coffee reveals raw sugar sweetness, with citrus fruit notes of pink grapefruit and tangerine. 

I recommend roasting this coffee on the lighter side. Light roasts really bring out the bright citrus and floral notes, which are what make these coffees so special.  Medium roasts still taste great with tons of bright citrus shining through the deeper caramel flavors.  Try this coffee black as a pour over or aero press for the full experience.

Fully washed, dried on raised beds, grown at 1800-2000 meters.

 

About Ethiopia coffee:

Ethiopia is considered the birthplace of coffee, and widely considered to produce the best coffees in the world. Ethiopian coffees have two very distinct flavors due to the way they are processed, washed or natural. 

Washed Ethiopian coffees have the cherry removed and remaining pulp washed away after a brief fermentation process.  These coffees can possess sparkling-bright acidity, with citric fruited suggestions, and delicate floral aromatics.

Natural or dry processed coffees get fruit flavors imparted when the cherry is dried whole before stripping off the fruit to leave the seed.  Dried fruit notes can range from raisin to berry to mango to peach. Quality natural coffees score highly with tasters and fetch high prices.
