GUATEMALA SAN MARTIN JILOTEPEQUE
From the town of San Martin Jilotepeque in Guatemala, this crowd-pleasing coffee with balanced sweetness and acidity make this a great choice for most. The flavor notes are described as caramel, chocolate, brown sugar, pecan, and hint of apple like acidity.
This coffee is versatile at any roast level, so choose what you prefer. Light roasts will be brighter and highlight natural acidity. Medium roasts really amplify the chocolate and brown sugar notes, which turn more into dark caramel the darker the roast. My roast preference is medium for the coffee pot and as espresso, and I'm also loving the light roast as a pour over.
Fully washed, patio dried, grown above 2000 meters.
About Guatemala coffee:
Great Guatemalan coffees have a bright cup, floral hints, clean fruited notes, moderate body, and a lingering clean aftertaste. The Guatemalan coffees I love and purchase are heavy in caramel, brown sugar, and cocoa notes; rather than floral or citrus. Guatemalan coffee tends to be right down the middle, crowd pleasing, and enjoyable at most roast levels. My daily drinker.
